Orkun Kökcü: SL Benfica Hesitant on Record-breaking Transfer Deal with Feyenoord

Orkun Kökcü is open to hearing the story of SL Benfica, the Portuguese newspaper Record reported on Wednesday morning. The 22-year-old midfielder from Feyenoord is a top priority for the champion of the Primeira Liga and would prefer to strike in De Kuip this week.

SL Benfica, however, is hesitating against Feyenoord’s asking price. The Rotterdammers demand an amount of forty million euros for the international of Turkey. The Portuguese think they have a good chance with a deal in which part of the transfer rights remain in the hands of Feyenoord, as was done in the past during the negotiations with River Plate about Enzo Fernández.

Kökcü is seen by trainer Roger Schmidt as the ideal replacement for the departed Fernández. The medium reports that SL Benfica plans to offer around thirty million euros for eighty percent of the transfer rights. In the future, the Rotterdammers can therefore benefit enormously when the Portuguese again succeed in selling a player for millions. This would mean a record deal for Feyenoord.

Luis Sinisterra is currently the record sale for Feyenoord. The winger went to Leeds United last summer for an amount of twenty-five million euros. SL Benfica took over Enzo from River Plate in the summer of 2022 for an amount of fourteen million euros and due to a high resale percentage, the transfer fee eventually rose to just over 44 million euros. The Portuguese hope that Feyenoord also likes such a construction.

Orkun Kökcü graces the over of the Portuguese newspaper again on Wednesday morning.
