The amount collected will be used for people affected by poverty in Switzerland. The donation opens the way out of poverty for those affected and enables social participation. For customers who choose the discount and still want to donate something, there are also donation kiosks in all Orell Füssli bookstores. «Our customers should decide for themselves whether and how much they want to donate. So instead of the 20% donation – or in addition to it – you can also put something in the till. Thanks to a Twint code, this will also be possible cashless in all of our branches and in our online shop, ”continues Roth.
The “Fair Friday” campaign was launched in 2018 by the French-speaking bookseller Payot. There, customers can round up their invoice amount and donate the difference to Caritas. “Orell Füssli is always committed to social projects, such as promoting reading in Switzerland. We are all the more pleased that we have a committed partner in the largest Swiss bookseller who is now bringing the ‘Fair Friday’ to German-speaking Switzerland this year, “says Hugo Fasel, Director of Caritas Switzerland.
Further information on the campaign is available at orellfuessli.ch/fairfriday and fair-friday.ch.
