Portland, OR – Residents of the Portland metropolitan area have an opportunity to shape the future of housing in the region through public feedback on a draft Regional Housing Coordination Strategy (RHCS). Metro, the elected regional government, is seeking input on the plan, which aims to address housing shortages and promote affordability across city and county lines.
The RHCS is a direct response to new requirements under the Oregon Housing Needs Analysis (OHNA) program, compelling jurisdictions statewide to develop strategies for meeting state-set housing production targets. Metro is uniquely positioned to coordinate these efforts, and is required to adopt a new RHCS every six years.
The draft strategy outlines proposed actions for increasing housing production, improving access to opportunity, and fostering housing affordability and choice. The Metro Council is scheduled to vote on adoption by December 2025.
Public comment is being accepted through a survey, available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BFMZ6HC.
