During work on a railway line in Bremen-Sebaldsbrück, suspected duds from the Second World War were discovered in several places. This has drastic consequences for rail traffic.
The section between Bremen Central Station and Achim will be completely closed for one week. The closure begins on Friday at 11 p.m., as announced by Deutsche Bahn. A week later, on Friday, July 2nd, the route is expected to be opened again.
More than 300 train connections affected
More than 300 train connections are affected. Nationwide trains, for example from Hanover to Emden, Wilhelmshaven or Bremerhaven, are to be diverted. Delays of 30 minutes are possible. The train has the replacement timetable and information for travelers on the Company website released. Every traveler should plan more time, said a railway spokeswoman for the NDR in Lower Saxony. She also recommended that anyone who does not have to drive should refrain from traveling between Hanover and Bremen from Friday.
Rail replacement service on the Nordwestbahn
In regional rail traffic, buses are also to be used as rail replacement services. This is about the plan Northwest Railway on the route between Bremen main station and Verden (Aller). Commuters should expect more than 60 minutes of delays for the connection RS1, said the railway company.
