Ordered to withdraw about 40,000 pounds of ground beef due to concerns of E. coli



The company Lakeside Refrigerated Serviceslocated in New Jersey, has made a call to remove some 43,000 pounds of meat products, ground beef that could be contaminated with E. coliannounced the Saturday Service Food Safety and Inspection (FSIS, for its acronym in English) of the Department of Agriculture of the united States (USDA, for its acronym in English).

According to the FSIS, the products were shipped to retail stores throughout the united States. The recalled items were produced on the 1st of June and have the establishment number “EST. 46841” within the mark of USDA inspection.

According to the website Medline PlusE. coli is the name of a type of bacteria that lives in the intestine. Most E. coli do not cause problems. However, some types can cause disease and cause diarrhea. The worst type of E. coli causes bloody diarrhea and can sometimes cause kidney failure and even death.

The products being withdrawn are the following:

* Packages of one pound containing “Value Pack Fresh Ground Beef 76% Lean 24% Fat,” with date of use or freeze 07/01/20 and with the batch code P53930-18

* Packages of one pound of “Marketside Butcher Organic Grass-Fed Ground Beef” with date of use or freeze 07/01/20 and with the batch code P-53298-82

* Packages of one pound containing four pieces of a quarter of a pound of “Marketside Butcher Organic Grass-Fed Ground Beef Patties” with date of use or of freezing the 27 of June of 2020, and with the batch code P-53934-2

* Three-pound packages of three pieces of a pound each of “Marketside Butcher Organic Grass-Fed Ground Beef 93% Lean/7% Fat” with date of use or to freeze the 07/01/20 and with the batch code P53929-70

* Package tray of a pound that contain parts of four quarters of a pound of “Thomas Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef Patties 85% Lean/ 15% Fat” with date of use or to freeze the 06/25/20 and with the batch code P53944-10

* Packages of tray of 4 pounds containing pieces of 10-quarter of a pound of “Thomas Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef Patties 80% Lean/20% Fat,” with date of use or to freeze the 06/25/20 and with the batch code P53937-45

* Packages of one pound containing four pieces of a quarter of a pound of “Thomas Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef Patties 85% Lean / 15% Fat” with date of use or to freeze the 27/06/20 and with the batch code P53935-25

The FSIS is concerned that some product may be in the refrigerators or freezers of consumers. It urges consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them. These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
