Orange will strengthen its satellite coverage for very high speed throughout France

Orange announced have signed an agreement with Eutelsat Communications to have all the capacity available on the Eutelsat Konnect satellite. This will allow the operator’s subsidiary Nordnet to offer very high speed fixed by satellite throughout France from January 2021.

This is a way for the incumbent operator to comply with the France THD plan which provides for the entire territory to be covered at very high speed, i.e. at least 30 Mbit / s, by 2022. The press release makes no secret, this reinforcement in the satellite aims to offer very high speed ” even [à] those who live in the most isolated areas. “

Nordnet’s current broadband satellite offers

The agreement will apply until the entry into service of the very high-speed Konnect VHTS satellite, scheduled to enter orbit in 2021, to which Orange services will be transferred once in place. This agreement follows a previous contract between Orange and Eutelsat in 2018 who saw the first renting part of the second’s bandwidth.

Very high speed satellite offers are not yet marketed. Nordnet’s current broadband subscriptions start from € 39.90 / month (with a promotional rate for the first six months), plus the purchase of the satellite kit at € 399.

Update at 4:15 pm: correction on the current offers of Nordnet.
