Bruno Le Maire confirms France’s position on the Huawei case. The Chinese giant will not be excluded from the deployment of 5G. On the other hand, European equipment manufacturers Ericsson and Nokia could be privileged.
With American pressure on the one hand concerning the potential danger posed by Huawei, and that of China on the other side urging not to discriminate against its champion for unfounded accusations at the risk of reprisals, France finds itself in a position delicate. Not to mention the operators who no longer know which way to dance and are asking for clarification, knowing that they will have to invest massively in the era of 5G. Stéphane Richard, the CEO of Orange, has repeatedly shown his annoyance at the lack of clarity concerning the Huawei file. At the microphone of RMC / BFMTV, the French Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire recently stated that “Huawei will not be excluded from 5G in France”.

Bruno Le Maire clarified his remarks, saying that “European suppliers Nokia and Ericsson could be privileged”, but that Huawei “Will be able to have access to 5G in France” it “Has a better offer to present at one time or another from a technical point of view, from a price point of view”. The French Minister for the Economy also added : “If there are critical installations, military installations, nuclear zones nearby, we will put a certain number of restrictions to protect our interests of sovereignty”.
