Oppo Reno 6 Pro Review: Review

Smartphone makers are always thinking of ways to make their devices more attractive to consumers, but when it comes to beautiful, feature-rich smartphones, many brands fall short of Oppo’s current designs.

The company launched one of its most attractive smartphones last year with a new design (Reno Glow), which appeared on its Reno 5 Pro 5G smartphone, and Oppo is now back with a more powerful chipset and improved cameras in the new Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G. With the launch of this device, Oppo has brought to the fore the most powerful MediaTek chipset to date and new camera features, with the Reno6 Pro model featuring the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, just behind the 888. This equipment is on sale in Portugal for 829€, being that in Amazon.es is on sale for €799.

Design and screen

Oppo smartphones are well known for two things: unique designs and good camera performance. The Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G comes in two colors: stellar black and aurora. The latter comes with the company’s Reno Glow design that came with its predecessor last year.

The smartphone features a sleek glass surface that’s glossy and has a shimmery finish, but with a smooth matte finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints. It looks attractive and definitely stands out from other designs we see on smartphones in this price segment (€829).

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro’s curved design sits comfortably in the hands and the slim profile makes it very easy to use with one hand. The smartphone has a small boss for the quad camera configuration, which goes well with the gradient design on the back of the device. The device doesn’t look too heavy – in fact, the metal sides and glass body give it a premium feel.

The Oppo logo on the back is small and barely noticeable, and the matte finish on the back also means it doesn’t slip out of the user’s hands easily. The Reno 6 Pro comes with a clear cover in the package.

On the front of the smartphone is a 6.5-inch FHD + AMOLED screen that curves on both sides of the device. The display is very bright and there are no visibility problems even outdoors or in bright sunlight. The device has a small hole on the screen for the front camera.

Thanks to the curved screen, the smartphone’s frames are barely noticeable, but on occasions the device accidentally registers the option to ‘back’ when using the new Android gestures. There are no stereo speakers on the Reno 6 Pro, but the only one that exists is loud and clear for most situations. All things considered, this is one of the best smartphone screens in this price range.

Chambers

Cameras are a major selling point when it comes to Oppo devices, so it’s not surprising to see that the company has included photo and video capabilities along with pretty good camera hardware in the Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G.

The quad camera configuration on the back of the device has a 64 MP wide angle camera (f / 1.7, 26 mm) that supports 4K video recording at 30 FPS, along with an 8 MP ultra wide angle camera (f / 2.2, 120 degrees) and two cameras with 2 MP sensors – one for macro and one for monochrome photography. On the front is a 32MP camera (f / 2.4, 26mm) with support for 1080p video recording.

One of the most interesting features of the Reno 6 Pro smartphone is the ‘AI Bokeh Flare’, which essentially works as a portrait mode for videos – much like the ‘blur background’ feature in videoconferencing from applications like Microsoft Teams or Zoom . This device manages to do this very well, when recording in 1080p indoors and outdoors.

Performance and battery

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC with built-in 5G support. This processor allows the use of several applications and games at the same time.

When it comes to daily tasks, the Reno 6 Pro is fast and does not show any crashes or slowdowns, even with a large number of applications installed. The smartphone doesn’t heat up much, even after long gaming sessions. Editing and exporting a six-minute 4K / 30FPS video recorded on the smartphone takes just five minutes and 20 seconds.

Multitasking isn’t a challenge either, thanks to the device’s ample memory of 12GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with a feature that allows it to ‘expand’ its RAM, using unused internal storage, and which is beginning to be widely used by smartphone manufacturers.

Reno 6 Pro battery charging is very fast thanks to the SuperVOOC 2.0 to 65W charger built into the device – the smartphone charges from 0 to 100% in about 45 minutes.

Verdict: Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G

This equipment can have a high price, when compared to smartphones with similar specifications that can only be purchased online imported from other countries, but another great advantage is the national customer support, which Oppo offers and which has been improving, knowing that this is the way to build customer loyalty.

It’s true that €829 is still a lot of money, but bearing in mind that it’s a well-designed smartphone, good for everyday photography and that offers exclusive video features, decent performance, optimized software, fast charging and good lifespan. battery, so the Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G is worth every penny spent on your purchase.
