OpenAI Launches AI-Generated Video App, directly Challenging TikTok, Instagram & YouTube

SAN FRANCISCO​ – OpenAI has entered the ⁤social media arena with ⁢Sora,⁢ a new smartphone application focused entirely⁤ on videos generated by artificial intelligence. The launch positions the ChatGPT developer as a direct competitor too established ⁣video platforms like TikTok,Instagram,Facebook,and YouTube.

Sora distinguishes itself by allowing users to incorporate digital versions of themselves and their friends into AI-created videos. Initially, the app will be ad-free, though OpenAI has not ruled out future monetization.

The move underscores OpenAI’s expanding ambitions beyond its initial success with ChatGPT, which⁢ sparked widespread interest in⁣ AI nearly three years ago.
