Actor Zdeněk Godla spoke about his five-year stay in prison. In the show TALK! also the actor with the surname the most famous Czech Roma talked about his beginnings as an actor and the filming of the series Ordinace v rozá žárdeni 2.
Godla spent five years behind bars in his youth. “I was there for my youthful imprudence. I was 18 years old and I ended up in detention because I disobeyed my parents. We celebrated Josef with my friends about three days earlier. Then I woke up to the fact that they were after us and that I had to take on. And I didn’t even remember what we did,” recalls the actor.
But his stay in prison gave him a lot. “It taught me to recognize bad and good people. There you meet people you don’t normally meet outside. I had a lot of time to think there and found out that my parents were right that such parties are not very good,” he asks after years of conscience.
But he was said to get along well with the other inmates. “They liked me there because I like humor, so I entertained them. I also went to work there, that was good,” described Godla. In addition to acting, he also works in construction. “We also renovated apartments, I will not leave it. When there is an opportunity and I have free days, I just go there. I enjoy it. You miss the manual work,” he said.
For several years, he has also been playing in the popular TV series Ordinace v rozágádena 2. “I was afraid that the actors from Ordinace would not accept me very much, that they would see the black fungus, I’m saying that for fun, of course. But the actors accepted me as their equal,” he mentioned .
But with growing fame came some unpleasant moments. “I had a problem with our community because I called myself a gypsy. They told me it was associated with Nazism. I just feel like a gypsy, so I’m a gypsy,” he concluded, adding that according to him, it’s about education, not community.
