Only 50% of Britons would be ready to be vaccinated

According to a recent published survey, younger people are twice as likely to reject the coronavirus vaccine.

Only 53% of Britons would accept the vaccination – or be likely to accept it – while 16% say they categorically reject it, according to researchers at King’s College London and Ipsos Mori.

Among those surveyed, the youngest are twice as reluctant to be vaccinated: 22% of 16-34 year olds say they do not want to be vaccinated against Covid-19, compared to only 11% of 55-75 year olds.

Lack of confidence

At the origin of this mixed reception? A negative perception of vaccines whose side effects are not clear today.

The study, conducted among 2,237 people between the ages of 16 and 75, found that people were more likely to reject the vaccine due to their low level of trust in science but also in government. rather than for reasons related to the epidemic itself.
