Have a nice day. Markéta Vondroušová is waiting for the opening grand slam of the second round duel season. At the very beginning of Thursday’s program, the Czech Republic will measure its strengths with Lyudmilo Samsonov from Russia. It will be played in the next court number 17.
Markéta Vondroušová is a 22-year-old Czech tennis player. Last season, she delighted Czech fans with silver from the Tokyo Olympics. At the end of the last year, Vondroušová played Billie Jean King Cup, in which she played Petkovicová and Golubicová. She also came across the latter at her premiere this year in Adelaide, where she was eliminated in the eighth finals on the Croatian Konjuh rocket. She was the only general before the Australian Open. In Melbourne, the thirty-one, which ranks 41st in the WTA rankings, began with a smooth triumph 6: 2 and 6: 3 over the home Honová. Vondroušová starts in the tournament for the fourth time and defends last year’s round of 16, which is also her maximum.
Ljudmila Samsonovová is at her maximum in the singles chart, namely the 37th position. She is starting for the third time in the main competition of the Australian Open and has reached last year’s maximum by advancing to the second round. Last year, 23-year-old Russia won her first WTA trophy on the grass in Berlin. This year, she started the season in Melbourne, where she dropped out in the first round with Němka Petkovicová. She did better in Adelaide a week ago. After the victories over the Egyptian Sharif and the Spanish Parrizas-Diaz, she reached the quarterfinals, in which she was close enough to the later champion American Keys. She started the grand slam with a 7: 5 and 6: 4 victory over the American qualifier Bektasová.
Samsonov (6: 4, 7: 6) won the only duel at the aforementioned event in Berlin last year. This time, however, the betting companies are leaning towards the Czech Republic, which they are quite clearly favoring for advancing to the third round. Will Vondroušová meet the paper requirements?
