On Friday Onet reported that the Rafako company, which was building the coal-fired unit and is now helping Tauron in its operation, warned the government of a possible failure. According to the company, coal provided by Tauron for power plants is not suitable for combustion.

Tauron assured that the coal delivered to the block was of adequate quality. “Coal in mines is subjected to a cleaning process, yet, due to the very large amounts of coal flux, it cannot be completely ruled out that a small amount of contaminants will enter the coal supplied to the power plant,” explained Tauron in the Friday’s press release. The company also published photos showing the coal – they are to prove that it is of good quality.
The Tauron Group emphasized that in its opinion, “Rafako is once again using business blackmail, and the materials – including photos – published by Rafako have been manipulated.” Tauron’s official position on the matter has been removed.
