In a little more than a week, on July 11 this year, AvtoVAZ will complete the assembly line for welding and painting complexes of the so-called simplified off-road cars Niva Legend. Two days later, on July 13, the company will begin assembling these cars.
Assembly will be done in one shift (as opposed to the streamlined Granta, which is assembled in two shifts), producing around 200 production vehicles per day. The Russians also have a plan to produce the sub-platform Niva Travel, which will be produced on the same assembly line, but its assembly is scheduled to resume later – in August.
We will remind you that on April 5 this year, the legendary Russian SUV celebrated its birthday – the first copies of the VAZ-2121 Niva began to roll off the assembly line on this date in 1977 – 45 years ago. This is actually the first independent development of AvtoVAZ, which for some time was also the most expensive and prestigious model of the brand.
It is also curious that these cars will not have airbags, ABS and ESP systems, nor will they have a navigation and multimedia system. In addition, simplified modifications will receive engines with a greatly reduced environmental class, meeting the Euro-2 standard. This is because the exhaust system with the catalytic converter will be replaced with an older single-probe generation design.
