One of the three cars sold by the Renault Group is a Dacia. The new seven-seater SUV will soon contribute to the good figures of the Romanian brand

Dacia continues to record spectacular sales developments in Europe, but also globally. Basically, Dacia has become the engine of the Renault Group’s supply increases, as it results from the latest data communicated by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Europe (ACEA) and the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Romania (ACAROM), but also from official reports of the French manufacturer.

In January-June this year, no less than 181,528 Dacia cars were sold in Europe, the volume representing an increase of 16.5% compared to the first half of last year. The percentage increase in Dacia sales in Europe is more than twice as high as that of the Renault Group. At European level, the Renault Group sold 530,558 cars in the first half of this year. Which practically means that almost a third of the Renault Group’s sales and registrations in Europe were represented by Dacia.

Then, globally, Dacia totaled 262,814 vehicles sold in the first half of the year, 24.5% more than in 2019, and the first electric model, Spring, registered over 15,000 firm orders. In the same period, Renault sold just over 900,000 units, but we must not forget that Dacia models contribute directly to them. And that’s because in several markets outside Europe Dacia models are sold with the Renault logo. In 2019, Sandero was the best-selling model in the French group, and Duster was in third place, after Clio. The Logan – Sandero – Duster family models account for about 30% of Renault’s sales.

The seven-seater SUV also appears

The new seven-seater SUV, which will be launched in September at the Munich Motor Show, Renault officials hope, will soon contribute to the good figures of the Romanian brand. The model will be approximately 4.50 meters long and will be built on an elongated and slightly simplified version of the CMF-B platform.

The new Dacia SUV will have several petrol engines: 1.0 TCe (100 and 120 hp) and 1.3 TCe (140 and 160 hp). In addition, the model will have a 1.0 TCe version on LPG, but also the first hybrid version in the history of Dacia, 1.6 E-Tech with 140 hp which is also present on the Renault Clio. However, for price reasons, the hybrid system from Dacia will be less efficient compared to the one found on the French model. According to Renault officials, the model will have some modern features that can be found in the new Sandero or Sandero Stepway. These include automatic emergency braking, neutral detectors, slope start assistance or electric parking brake. The price of the future model, which will not have a 4X4 version, has not been announced yet.
