In cooperation with foreign video art partner organizations, a cycle of 9 events has been created, which will open weekly in video art selection shows, complemented by short introductory lectures. As a result of long-term cooperation, the program consists of selections from such notable partner organizations as Japan Media Arts Festival, ARS Electronica, the world’s oldest short film festival Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and others. Distant continents are also represented in the program – selections of works from Argentina, Korea and Ethiopia are included in the program.
Sandra Ķempele, director of the Latvian Video Arts Archive, says: “This year, Noah on board it will be possible to get to know video art from different continents, looking for both commonalities and differences in visual language and aesthetics, as well as expanding your ideas about what are the main current events in video art at the moment.”
The video artworks will be shown in their original language with English subtitles, and admission to the screenings is free.
The video art evening program on Wednesday was compiled by Sandra Ķempele, director of the Latvian Video Art Archive, and the series of events was implemented with the co-financing of the Riga City Council as part of the Riga Summer Culture Program.
