Of the 251 Covid-19 infections detected last day, more than a third were registered in Riga, but a relatively large increase in the number of infections was also registered in Daugavpils, Liepāja and Saulkrasti districts, according to data compiled by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (SPC).

There were 98 new infections registered in Riga last day and the total cumulative number of cases in the capital for 14 days is currently 999 people.
In turn, 25 new cases have been registered in Daugavpils and the total number of cases in the last two weeks has reached 190 people. Daugavpils has been one of the most severely affected municipalities of Covid-19 in Latvia for a long time, where initially the disease spread around a focus in an ice rink.
13 new infections have been registered in Liepaja, with the total number of cases in the last 14 days increasing to 53 people. SPKC recently reported the spread of Covid-19 through Liepaja nightclub “Big7”.
11 new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Saulkrasti municipality, the total cumulative number of 14 days reaching 16 people. Saulkrasti municipality informed that in recent days Covid-19 has been detected in eight employees and nine patients of the municipality SIA “Saulkrastu slimnīca”, as well as social care homes for two employees and seven clients.
Six new cases were registered in Aglona region, but five new cases each – in Rēzekne, Jēkabpils, Valmiera, Mārupe and Cēsis region. Four new patients were registered in Jurmala, Ķekava, Sigulda and Carnikava districts.
A smaller number of new patients were registered in Jelgava, Ventspils, Krāslava, Kuldīga, Vecpiebalga, Olaine, Talsi, Ogre, Stopiņi, Daugavpils, Garkalne, Babīte, Madona, Limbaži, Preiļi, Ozolnieki, Ādaži, Jelgava, Ropaži, Amata, Riebiņi, Inčukna , Grobiņa, Valka, Rēzekne, Salacgrīva, Kārsava and Baldone districts.
Covid-19 returned to Dobele and Beverīna counties, where all those infected had previously recovered.
In total, Covid-19 infection is currently detected in 88 Latvian municipalities. The largest number of cases in the last two weeks is in Riga – 999, in Daugavpils – 190, in Vecpiebalga region – 99, as well as in Kraslava region – 67 inhabitants.
Of those infected last day, 49 were aged 40 to 49, 44 were aged 50 to 59, and 36 were aged 20 to 29. Other age groups have fewer cases.
It has already been reported that 251 new cases of Covid-19 infection were detected in Latvia last day, according to the information compiled by the SPKC.
6015 Covid-19 examinations were performed last day, thus the proportion of positive cases against the tested ones is 4.2%. To date, 63 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
So far, 5,144 people have been confirmed with Covid-19 in Latvia, but 1,382 people have recovered.
