On Tuesday another launch attempt of “Artemis” – Salzgitter Zeitung

US space agency NASA initially wants to keep another launch attempt on Tuesday for the troubled “Artemis” moon mission, however, time may require another postponement.

Due to the impending hurricane, the chance that weather conditions will allow for a launch is currently only 20 percent, NASA said at a news conference.

A final decision is expected to be made over the weekend. Another window foresees the unmanned rocket launch between 17 and 31 October. A leak occurred again on Wednesday during a pool test. However, according to NASA, the test was completed as planned and all objectives were met. About three weeks ago, two attempts to launch the unmanned rocket failed, inter alia due to a leaking fuel line.

The missile system was then returned to the Cape Canaveral spaceport hangar in the US state of Florida for the time being. Problems also arose in the previous “Artemis” tests, which ultimately led to the first major delay in the project.

Initially this is an unmanned test flight to the moon, but with the program named after the Greek goddess of the moon, US astronauts are expected to land on the moon again in a few years.
