On Thursday, 284 new cases of Covid-19 infection were registered, five people died – in Latvia – News

Five people infected with Covid-19 died yesterday. One of them was in the age group from 40 to 45 years, the others – in the age group from 65 to 85 years.

This is the highest number of infections and deaths registered in one day. So far, both rates were highest on October 24, when 259 cases of Covid-19 were detected, while four people died.

Yesterday, 20 patients with Covid-19 were hospitalized. A total of 195 patients are treated in hospitals, of whom 185 are moderately ill and ten are severely ill. A total of 403 patients were discharged from the hospital.

In Latvia, a total of 5,679 persons fell ill and 1,406 recovered.

The proportion of positive tests last day was 4.8%. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 4%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

TVNET has already reported that as of today, the maximum number of people in private events is being exceeded reduced to ten persons, while in public events – up to 300 people, provides for a government decision.

Due to the rapid spread of Covid-19 to family and friends, residents are encouraged to carefully consider the need to attend both private events that gather people outside their “social bubble” and public events, as crowded places are at higher risk of infection. .

The obligation to wear a face mask in public places still applies. The Saeima decided yesterday that it would be possible to apply for not using a mouth and nose mask warning or fine 10 to 50 euros.
