On the shoulders of giants: A mathematical walk through Andalusian art

Galileo said that “Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe.” This science was one of the most favored by the contributions of the Arabs, who used it to solve their daily problems, but also when constructing and embellishing their main buildings and monuments. Until January 9, the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo (Granada) hosts the exhibition “Al-Ándalus Mathematical Walk“, a synthesis of a great study on mathematics and Andalusian monumental art. Among the monuments chosen are the Alhambra in Granada, the Mosque-Cathedral and the Synagogue of Córdoba and the Real Alcázar, the Giralda and the Torre del Oro de Seville, thus collecting Caliphate, Almohad, Nasrid and Mudejar art We have spoken with Álvaro Martínez Sevilla, scientific director of the exhibition.
