On Saturday, 14 fires were extinguished in counties, four in Riga, but seven in other cities. In addition, SFRS employees have also participated in extinguishing two forest fires, which are not included in the total number of fires. Meanwhile, the information provided by the State Forest Service shows that on Saturday, a total of five forest fires in the area of 0.24 hectares were extinguished in Latvia.
During the day, SFRS employees have also performed 20 rescue operations – in three counties, ten in Riga, but seven in other cities. Since the beginning of the year, 4935 fires have been extinguished in Latvia, of which 1379 have been fires, 163 people have been injured in fires, and 49 have died, according to SFRS statistics.
