The Singaporean government asked its citizens who had previously received doses of 1 and 2 of the COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac and Sinopharm to take back the booster dose. This is done to maintain their vaccination status.
Quoted from the CNA page, the local government said that recipients of the two vaccines made in China were required to get a booster vaccine starting January 1, 2022.
If the community does not do the booster, then the vaccination status will be re -labeled as ‘vaccination in process’. The third vaccination alone should be performed 28 days after the second dose is obtained.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said that since Wednesday (12/1/2021) it has gradually sent SMS notifications to 70,000 people who have received two doses of the vaccine. They were eligible to take their third dose three months after their second injection.
“In order to maintain complete vaccination status from January 1, 2022 onwards, they are strongly recommended to take the third dose before December 31, 2021, as long as the second dose has been given three months ago,” said the Ministry of Health.
In fact, next year, Singapore plans to not allow citizens who have not been vaccinated to take a COVID-19 test before going out. In other words, unvaccinated residents’ COVID test results will not be recognized in some activities.
Meanwhile, Singapore reported the finding of two cases of infection with the Omicron variant. The two were found when they arrived from abroad and were immediately isolated.
The two cases entering Singapore came from Johannesburg, South Africa on flight SQ479 last Wednesday.
The two cases found are currently isolated at the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID), with mild symptoms, namely coughing and itching in the throat. Reportedly, both have been fully vaccinated.
