OM: new evidence cooperation Rico “The Chilean” R. | Inland

The Public Prosecution Service Amsterdam announced this in court on Wednesday afternoon. Here was a new pro forma hearing in the trial of Rico R., 46, suspected of leading a criminal organization allegedly involved in drug trafficking, liquidation and money laundering.

It has already been said that the three would form a close partnership according to the Public Prosecution Service. But according to the judiciary, there is now new evidence for this. It concerns PGP messages from the seized top criminal Naoufal F. He is serving a life sentence for ordering a liquidation. Liquidations would be discussed there.

According to Rico R.’s lawyer, Leon van Kleef, a number of PGP messages and third party statements do not say much about the sustainability or structural cooperation within an organization. The lawyer said that the preparation of the criminal case is seriously complicated by the current circumstances in the high-security ECI where his client is sitting, due to the coronavirus. He asked the judge to suspend his pre-trial detention.

The court will make a decision about this later on Wednesday afternoon. On 5 June, the court will hear the proceedings substantively
