Olympique de Marseille extended its winning streak with a 2-1 victory over Metz, while Lens secured a hard-fought win in Auxerre on Wednesday, continuing a dynamic start to the Ligue 1 season.
Odsonne Edouard marked his Ligue 1 return with the opening goal for Marseille in the 14th minute, but was forced to leave the match before halftime due to injury. Metz responded after the break with a header from Francisco Sierralta in the 61st minute. Despite a 73rd-minute red card for Ismaelo Ganiou, Metz nearly snatched a late win, ultimately falling short as Marseille secured the points with a goal from Sima following a corner.
The results see Marseille climb to 10th place with 8 points, while Metz remains 15th with 6. elsewhere, Brest and Nantes played to a 0-0 draw, a result that does little to alleviate Nantes’ winless streak of four matches. Nantes currently sits 14th with 6 points.
