The first week of the Olympics delivered its share of surprises and disappointments. On this occasion, Ouest-France invites you to find its top 10 and its flop 10 of the first eight days of the fortnight.
Tops
Clarisse Agbegnenou, a golden girl. Finally Olympic gold after silver in Rio. The appointment. World class. We can add to it the French Judo Team as a whole. Even outside Agbegnenou, the French judo team was a pleasure to see. Gold by mixed team, against Japan, at home, is the best showcase.
Cannone shot. Romain Cannone was 49th in the world in épée and was not due to come to the Games, he left with gold! With his relaxed style and refreshing speech, he wowed France. But the entire French fencing team was right at the rendezvous. And what a final for the foilists against the Russians!

Charline Picon and Thomas Goyard the sails of silvert. Gold in Rio, silver by winning the medal race in Tokyo, Charline Picon is a huge champion. And his sidekick Thomas Goyard is no exception. He made speak his talent, and close the mouths which found his selection less justified than that of Pierre le Coq.
Florent Manaudou, the proof by 3. Gold (2012), silver (2016), silver (2021), over 50 m, Florent Manaudou has succeeded in his comeback bet after a career stoppage in 2018 and an attempt to retrain in handball. Hat.

Women’s rugby sevens is not a shame. Superb Olympic course interrupted in the final against the All Blacks. And the first French medal in the discipline.
Althea Laurin, the discovery. We discovered her sport taekwondo and we also discovered a young 19-year-old athlete from Martinique. As placid in front of a microphone as it is punchy on a carpet. And a nice bronze in -67 kg.

Hugo Boucheron and Mathieu Androdias, gold in spades. Seventh in Rio in 2016, Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias finally won the gold they dreamed of so much.
Claire Bove and Laura Tarantola, this is just the start. First Olympics, first medal, silver, for the two young French rowers with contagious emotion. The lightweight double scull won the first French women’s rowing medal since 1996.
French basketball players extinguish the stars. A victory at the Olympics against the United States, “The nation of basketball” is worth its weight in peanut butter. It was in the pool, Ok, but the French did it.
The flops
France TV ads do not advertise France TV. By placing ad cuts and channel dropouts, too often, at crucial moments of suspense, France TV has been sharply criticized by viewers on social networks. We expected better from the public service than this incessant sausage of advertisements …
Boxing refereeing, knockout? Never, except in figure skating, has arbitration in an Olympic discipline been so vilified as that of boxing. The French have often cried scandal. They are not always right. But abuses are obvious, the NNOSF even seized the arbitral tribunal for sport, on the disqualification of Mourad Aliev.
