Olivier Sarr leaves from Wake Forest: direction the Kentucky Wildcats

After a good season in Wake Forest (3rd five in the ACC) and when the university decided to change trainer, the French pivot decided to change university: in the direction of the Wildcats of John Calipari. With an average of 13.7 points, 9.0 rebounds 53% success, the ex Demon Deacon had the choice between many big curies including Gonzaga, Duke, Baylor, Kentucky. It is finally on the campus of the 2012 university champions that the 21-year-old Frenchman will put his bags down. A weight reinforcement for the residents of the SEC, but also a strategic choice for Olivier Sarr. Because Kentucky is one of the most scrutinized universities by NBA scouts (having Calipari in head coach has helped). So that means better visibility and maybe a better chance of being picked high in the 2021 draft. In addition, the inside position should be left open by the many departures of one and done and a fairly external recruitment.

The only downside: the NCAA. Indeed, if Olivier Sarr chooses to leave Wake Forest, it is nonetheless a transfer. However, the rule is precise: if a player leaves his university for another without having graduated (some courses can be completed in three years, Editor’s note), the player in question must observe a blank year. Sarr and Kentucky of course filed a request for a “waiver“(an exemption), but it is not certain that the university authority validates it because of a change of coach.

A decision that will fix the future in NCAA of the young player since for the latter, it is out of the question to sit on an entire season.
