Oleiros: García Seoane defends the demolition of Casa Carnicero because “it no longer existed” | Radio Coruña

The mayor of Oleiros, Ángel García Seoane, has defended the decision to demolish the ruins of the Casa Carnicero for a matter of public safety. The Council of Oleiros ordered the demolition after the demolition of one of its last standing walls by the squall Bella that posed, he assures, a danger to the population. The General Directorate of Heritage has opened a file to study the situation as it is a protected building and that the demolition was carried out without its authorization. García Seoane says he does not accept lessons on heritage conservation.

He explains that it was the Concello de Oleiros itself that decreed the protection of the building and tried to buy it for years from the owner family for its restoration. He points out that the delay in the process coincided with the fire in July, which destroyed the facilities. He assures that the last storm finished destroying what was left standing. Attack the Xunta for its inaction in the conservation of heritage while reacting on this occasion.

It defends that it has recovered and restored up to 22 protected buildings in the municipality. The Galician College of Architects has taken a stand against demolition. He defends that it is a listed building, the work of the architect Rafael Gonzalez Villar, which must be maintained by law.
