OSS –
It seems that an old acquaintance is returning to Oss. Pharmaceutical MSD wants to carry the name Organon as a company name in the future. That was brought out by the American company on Wednesday.
–
The part of the American pharmaceutical group Merck, also known as MSD, which is about to be split off, wants to continue under the company name Organon.
Part of the Dutch activities may also continue under the ‘new’ name, the company reported. The nearly hundred-year-old name Organon disappeared in 2007 after the takeover by Schering-Plow.
Women’s health
Organon will focus solely on women’s health. Later this year it will be announced what the consequences will be for the Dutch branches. The provisional plan is that the branch in Oss will become part of the new company.
Staff members
Organon is expected to employ 10,000 to 11,000 employees. Of the 6,000 Merck employees in the Netherlands, 1,200 to 1,500 may transfer to the new company. The company has yet to determine the exact details in consultation with the national works council, the unions and the supervisory board. Merck also has locations in Haarlem, Boxmeer and De Bilt.
The name Organon will only be used when the split has been realized in the different countries. This is expected to be in the first half of next year.
