Oil prices from Russia will be reduced by 50%

Russia needs to wait and see how proposals to limit the price of Russian oil exports are finalized. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision will not be accepted by all countries.

Commenting on reports that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has proposed limiting it to about half the current price, Peskov said that other countries might disagree.

“This statement … does not mean that such parameters will be agreed upon by other countries. So far, this is only one statement, without any decisions,” he told reporters.

Last week, the G7 leaders agreed to explore the possibility of imposing temporary restrictions on import prices for Russian fossil fuels, including oil.

They asked ministers to urgently evaluate the proposal, in another attempt to limit Russia’s resources to fund its invasion of Ukraine.

Recall that the leaders of the G7 agreed to study the issue on price restrictions on the import of Russian oil and gas. Thus, Moscow’s ability to finance its invasion of Ukraine will be reduced.
