President Radev missed his chance in the crisis to play the role of an effective mediator. He took sides, raised his fist and practically created conditions for there to be no center of power in Bulgaria at the moment.
This is how the political scientist Prof. Ognyan Minchev commented on the behavior of the head of state in the program “Face to Face” on BTV, describing him as a “radical leader of the protest”, instead of an institutional one, “whose main role is to mediate”.
According to the political scientist, the parties that are part of the parliament today are not protest, but anti-system.
“We have a National Assembly that functions as a show program, not to mention a circus, because certain procedures are being done inside and the national media is constantly committed to broadcasting them,” he said.
Prof. Minchev added that the leadership of the protest should have determined “where we want to go, not just where we do not want to stay” after overcoming the status quo.
The political scientist also said that the upcoming elections should be “2 in 1” to ensure more active participation of the Bulgarian people.
