The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to postpone the final matches of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup until further notice, in light of the emerging epidemic of the Corona virus (Covid-19).
Kave said in an official statement issued today, Saturday, that in light of the growing concerns and the changing nature of the Covid-19 virus, and amid the embargo in most countries, the emergency committee decided to postpone the matches until further notice.
He added that the new dates will be announced later, stressing that he is closely following the situation and will work with the relevant authorities, including the World Health Organization, on the impact of the epidemic on the continent.
Al-Ahly will play against Moroccan Wydad and Zamalek against Moroccan Raja in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, while Pyramids will face the Guinean champions Houria in the semifinals of the Confederation.
The final match for the Confederation was scheduled for next May 24 at the stadium of Prince Moulay Abd Allah Stadium in Morocco, and the Champions League final on the 29th of the same month in Douala, Cameroon.
It is reported that it was decided earlier to postpone the semi-final matches of the two competitions, after it was specified for the round trips between the first and third of May, and between the eighth and the tenth of the same month.
