Last Friday morning, a witness told the Offenburg police by telephone that he had just observed a male spraying graffiti in Moltkestrasse. The suspect then got into a waiting car with a non-local registration and drove away from the crime scene, followed by the witness. The caller followed the car and was able to lead the police to the suspect who had meanwhile left this car. Investigations by the graffiti clerk at the Offenburg youth law office have now shown that the sprayed-on abbreviation, called `TAG ‘, has been found several times in the city of Offenburg in recent months. Furthermore, in individual cases, witnesses repeatedly named a car with the same local registration as the escape vehicle. The said car was actually detected and stopped by officers from the patrol service on Friday afternoon in Offenburg’s southern part of the city. The driver of the vehicle was apparently under the influence of narcotics, he continued to resist the measures that followed and tried to physically attack a policewoman. Indications of involvement in the crime, so that the two suspects are now threatened with several charges of property damage. According to the current state of investigation, the damage caused by the graffiti amounts to approx. 12,000 euros. The driver of the car can also expect a complaint for driving under the influence of drugs, resistance to law enforcement officers and assault on police officers.
