A council of experts should promote the attractiveness of the city of Offenbach. The committee has now met for the first time.
The new Offenbach Expert Council for Economic Development has started its work, the magistrate announced.
In addition to the full-time members of the magistrate and the management of economic development, several prominent business representatives belong to the council.
These should “help with their advice to make the city as a location for companies step by step more attractive,” says Mayor Felix Schwenke (SPD).
That in turn should help to flush money into the city’s coffers. The Expert Council met for the first time on Monday; due to the corona pandemic, the meeting took place virtually. The experts come from all over the Rhine-Main area.
Also present are Markus Bögner, Managing Director of the tire manufacturer Falken Tire Europe based in Offenbach, the CEO of Helaba, Thomas Groß, and Ulrike Wernig-Pohlen, Head of HDW Partner GmbH. A total of 15 entrepreneurs belong to the committee. OB Schwenke personally advertised all members to work, they say.
According to the city, the Expert Council has a double function – internally it makes recommendations for city policy decisions, and externally it acts as an ambassador for Offenbach as a business location. Topics of the first meeting included the role of the administration, the expansion of the Kaiserlei roundabout and the local transport offer.
Following the meeting, the members were formally appointed by the magistrate for the duration of the election period of the city council.
