NYC to open new ‘mass vaccination’ sites

The mayor of the city, Bill de Blasio, reiterated that municipal efforts were and will continue to be focused on protecting the population of the city.

He reiterated that all personnel working in the health sector have put their lives to serve the public and, therefore, they should be listened to in their recommendations to continue the fight against COVID.

He emphasized that the municipal vaccination operation requires state and federal resources and support.

During his participation, the director of the municipal network of hospitals, Mitchell Katz, pointed out that health centers and hospitals have the capacity to inoculate the entire public; however, the necessary submissions are not available.

In this regard, de Blasio stated that he would send the Vice President a letter requesting the support and resources necessary to speed up the vaccination process in the city.

He vowed to allow all New Yorkers to be inoculated. Although I call for the approval of the state government to start operating them.

Of these five mass vaccination sites, two of them will start operating this weekend; They would operate 24 hours a day, every day of the week and their goal would be to apply 100,000 doses.

The first three of these mass vaccination sites would be located in:

  • Bathgate Industrial Park, El Bronx.
  • Brooklyn Army Terminal Annex Building, Brooklyn
  • La Marqueta, Manhattan

I call for attention to the federal government to establish a travel ban between the UK and New York City.

Regarding the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:

  • Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 210 (73%)
  • Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 population, 7-day median (NYS): 4.07
  • Reported COVID-19 Cases, 7-Day Average: 4064
  • Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 9.03%
