Mayor Faces Backlash After Meeting with Controversial Influencer
Controversial Encounter at Gracie Mansion
A firestorm of criticism has erupted after Mayor Adams hosted Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, known online as “Sneako,” at Gracie Mansion. The internet personality is known for espousing antisemitic views. The mayor admitted he should have vetted his guest more carefully before their cigar-filled Saturday night chat.
Adams told reporters he was simply trying to find common ground. He added, “Maybe I’m just too optimistic, that I believe there’s something good in everyone, and we should try to find that — yes, maybe I should have reached out to the team late at night and said, ‘Hey, can you vet this person?’” The meeting included Adams‘ son, Jordan Coleman, as well as model Amber Rose.

“I didn’t know his history. I don’t support anything that is criticizing any group in this city.”

A History of Controversial Statements
Sneako, 26, has a history of making antisemitic and anti-Israel statements. He is associated with white supremacist Nick Fuentes and rapper Kanye West, who has a record of antisemitic commentary. Before the meeting, Sneako posted that “Israel is not compatible with Western civilization.”
The Saturday night gathering lasted over an hour. Adams offered his guests cigars. New York Rep. Ritchie Torres criticized the meeting on X, referencing the former KKK leader David Duke. Adams has previously emphasized fighting antisemitism in his reelection efforts.
Mayor’s Response
The mayor maintains Jewish New Yorkers recognize his commitment to combating antisemitism. He noted, “The Jewish residents of the city know where I am.” He added, “They know where my voice is, and they know that there has not been a stronger voice in politics on fighting against antisemitism.”
