NY offers free digital literacy and advanced computer training for immigrants – Telemundo New York (47)

The New York State Office for New Americans and CanCode Communities announced their free digital literacy program and advanced computer training for immigrants.

The NewAmericansCanCode program enables new Americans to acquire essential computer skills that will allow them to aspire to higher paying jobs. Students learn Microsoft Office, how to manage calendars and email, basic Internet safety skills, and basic computer use. The course is available to any immigrant living in New York, regardless of their immigration status, although they must meet an income requirement, which must be equal to or less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Fall courses will be offered remotely, with real-time instruction and hands-on learning. Classes will begin the week of September 27, will last 10 weeks and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 pm
