Nvidia will only offer online conferences

The GTC (GPU Technology Conference) is a major annual event during which Nvidia presents its latest innovations in graphics cards and dedicated components for artificial intelligence or autonomous cars.

Organized in San José, it revolves around a major keynote given by its CEO Jensen Huang which reveals the main directions of the group’s strategy. But with the coronavirus epidemic which has been unfolding since the start of the year, the GTC 2020 will also have to adapt to new conditions.

Nvidia announced that if the event continues, it will only be done in the form of online conferences to preserve the health of the participants. The CEO will always hold his big keynote which will be broadcast via streaming.

For this edition, observers await the formalization of a new GPU architecture Ampere (or Hopper) which will have the advantage of an engraving in 7 nm (against 12 nm for Turing) and will make it possible to launch new families of products.

GTC 2020 doesn’t drain as many people as the big tech shows at the start of the year already canceled or postponed, but it usually concentrates 10,000 specialists in GPUs, AI and other fields covered by Nvidia.

Several cases of coronavirus have recently been declared within the county of Santa Clara (which includes San José), some of which without a clear explanation of the origin of the contamination, and force the firm to take special measures.

Beyond the major conferences, the GTC organizes during its four days numerous round tables and sessions which are therefore likely to pass for this 2020 edition by the wayside.
