NVIDIA Invests Heavily in European AI Infrastructure
Boosting Digital Sovereignty and Economic Growth Across the Continent
NVIDIA is joining forces with European nations, technology firms, and industry leaders to establish substantial AI infrastructure. This initiative seeks to reinforce digital independence, boost economic expansion, and solidify Europe’s position in the AI industrial revolution.
Key Partnerships
Several European countries, including France, Italy, Spain, and the U.K., are constructing domestic AI infrastructure. This effort involves a network of technology and cloud providers such as Domyn, Mistral AI, Nebius, and Nscale, as well as telecommunications firms like Orange, Swisscom, Telefónica, and Telenor.
NVIDIA is actively establishing and expanding AI technology centers across Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, the U.K., and Finland. These centers build upon previous collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners. The goal is to develop the AI workforce and support scientific discovery throughout the regions.
“Every industrial revolution begins with infrastructure. AI is the essential infrastructure of our time, just as electricity and the internet once were,”
—Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA
In France, Mistral AI is working with NVIDIA to build a comprehensive cloud platform, leveraging 18,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell systems in the initial phase. Plans are in place for expansion across multiple sites in 2026. This infrastructure aims to enable European organizations to swiftly develop and deploy AI using optimized Mistral AI models, accelerating agentic AI application adoption. The global AI market is predicted to reach nearly $2 trillion by 2030 (Statista 2024).
UK and German Initiatives
In the U.K., NVIDIA is collaborating with Nebius and Nscale to bring advanced AI capabilities to businesses of all sizes. The cloud providers announced plans to deploy 14,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. This deployment is designed to power new data centers and make secure AI infrastructure widely accessible.
In Germany, NVIDIA and its partners are constructing the world’s first industrial AI cloud for European manufacturers. This AI factory will be powered by NVIDIA DGX™ B200 systems and NVIDIA RTX PRO™ Servers, featuring 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, to accelerate manufacturing applications.
Italian Collaboration
NVIDIA is working with Domyn and the Italian government to advance Italy’s sovereign AI capabilities. Domyn is developing its Large Colosseum reasoning model using NVIDIA Grace Blackwell Superchips.
AI Technology Centers
NVIDIA is establishing and expanding technology centers in several European countries to accelerate AI skill development, research, and infrastructure for enterprises and startups.
- The Bavarian AI center in Germany, developed in collaboration with the Bayern KI consortium, will advance research in fields including digital medicine, and open-source robotics platforms.
- The Sweden AI center will advance world-class AI research with support from NVIDIA experts and hands-on NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute training.
- The Italy AI center will expand to include new AI factory deployments with the CINECA consortium.
- The Spain AI center will include a new AI factory with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
- The U.K. AI center will accelerate groundbreaking research in embodied AI, materials science, and Earth systems modeling.
- The Finland AI center enables researchers to accelerate AI research and applications for computer vision, machine learning, and AI for science.
These strategic investments signal a strong commitment to fostering AI innovation, economic growth, and technological leadership within Europe.
