Nutritionist explained why add cinnamon to coffee

Cinnamon helps reduce the risk of cancer, strengthens the immune system, and lowers blood sugar. St. Petersburg nutritionist Elmira Ibragimova spoke about the benefits of this spicy spice in an interview with a Rosbalt correspondent.

“Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants as it contains polyphenols. They protect the human body from oxidative damage by free radicals, which means they are a good cancer prevention. Cinnamon also has anti-inflammatory properties and boosts immunity due to its flavonoid compounds, ”explained the expert.

The spice also has a positive effect on type II diabetes – by reducing blood pressure, increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin and lowering blood sugar. Cinnamon also helps prevent cardiovascular disease by lowering the levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

“Cinnamon also speeds up metabolism, which means that those who are losing weight should include it in their diet. For example, you can dilute cinnamon in a glass of warm water and drink it throughout the day. But I would not recommend drinking this infusion on an empty stomach, ”added Elmira Ibragimova.

Cinnamon can even be beneficial as an additive to coffee, porridge or rolls. Asthmatics and people with ARVI symptoms should be more careful with the spice – cinnamon can cause a sore throat, the expert warned.
