The number of hospital admissions for Covid-19 in our country has increased by 11 percent in a week. This is evident from provisional figures from the health institute Sciensano on Monday.

In the week from 1 to 7 February, an average of 127.6 people were hospitalized each day for infection with the corona virus.
The total number of corona patients in the hospital has also increased slightly (+2 percent) to 1,676. 299 of them are in the intensive care unit (+2 percent).
In the week from January 29 to February 4, an average of 2,312.6 new infections were also registered per day. That is an increase of 2 percent, but the number of tests has also increased during that period. The positivity ratio has remained virtually stable at 5.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the number of additional deaths continues to decline. In the same week, an average of 38.3 people per day died after a corona infection, which is a decrease of 23 percent. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the virus has already claimed the lives of 21,389 people in Belgium.
Finally, preliminary data from Sciensano shows that 327,531 people have already received a first dose of a corona vaccine (3.55 percent of the adult population). 88,944 people also received their second dose.
