‘Number of GGDs set up special test rooms for patients with monkeypox’

That according to a tour of BNR along a number of GGDs. There are no separate rooms in Utrecht, but there is a separate consultation hour for monkey pox.

The local GGDs adhere to the guideline issued by the RIVM at the end of May. It called for minimizing contact with people who come to test.

Plans are ready at various GGDs for scaling up the test capacity. The conversion of test streets for corona is also one of the possibilities.

Not all GGDs think separate test rooms are necessary, according to the BNR tour. The GGD Hollands Midden chooses to do tests in people’s homes. This was also done previously in The Hague, but is now ‘too labour-intensive’ there.

352 infections

Yesterday, the RIVM reported that the virus has been diagnosed in 352 people in our country. Compared to last Thursday, 64 new cases came to light. This increase is considerably stronger than the increase in recent weeks.

Those who contract monkey pox can suffer from fever, headache, muscle aches and general malaise. After a few days, a rash with blisters appears on the skin. Usually people don’t get very sick from an infection.

One patient in the Netherlands has been in hospital to be treated for skin complaints associated with the infection. He has recovered and is back home.
