The number of corona patients in intensive care (IC) has fallen by nearly two hundred in a week. Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Network Acute Care (LNAZ), reports this on Friday afternoon.
On Friday, the number of corona patients on the IC decreased by 32. There are now a total of 378 Dutch corona patients who need intensive help.
Three Dutch IC patients are in a German hospital. That is four less than Thursday.
The percentage decrease in the number of corona patients in intensive care has gone faster than in the past three weeks.
A week ago, Kuipers predicted that the number of corona patients on IC would be approximately 435 on Friday. That is now more than fifty fewer.
Number of non-corona patients on the IC is increasing
According to Kuipers, the occupancy of the intensive care units is now at a normal level, as it was before the corona crisis. “The released IC capacity is fully used for other care,” he concludes.
On Friday, 527 non-corona patients will be in intensive care. That is thirty more than Thursday.
In a week, the number of non-corona patients on the IC has risen by more than a hundred, which shows that regular care can be taken up more and more.
This regular IC care is not yet at the same level: before the corona crisis, between 800 and 900 patients were in intensive care every day.
