The number of new corona cases increased again on Saturday. In the past 24 hours, 6,577 positive corona tests were registered with the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), 656 more than Friday. Then there were 5,921 (after correction) and 5634 on Thursday.
In the past week, nearly 37,300 people were infected. That is more than 3,000 fewer than the week before.
Since the outbreak started this spring, 9,662 people have been infected and died of corona.
Deaths
The number of deaths from corona increased by 39 in the last 24 hours. This does not mean that all these people died in the last 24 hours, it may take some time between a death and the registration. The RIVM reported the death of 58 corona patients on Friday.
