Nueces County Free Healthcare & Pet Services During Operation Health and Wellness

Operation Health and Wellness Launches Free medical and Animal Care Services This Week

Operation Health and Wellness has commenced its week-long initiative, offering a complete suite of free medical and veterinary services to residents and their pets. the program, which began on July 21st, aims to address critical healthcare needs within the community.

Sherry Bowers,Executive Director of Mission of Mercy,highlighted the organization’s role in providing essential care.”We provide free medical care, vision care, dental care to our patients at no cost,” Bowers stated. The initiative extends to services such as animal vaccinations, micro-chipping, school physicals, and health screenings, available on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Last year, Operation Health and Wellness served thousands of individuals and animals, with organizers anticipating even greater participation this year. Dr. Elizabeth Loila, an associate professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, commented on the program’s significance, calling it “a start for badly needed healthcare.”

Healthcare services and Locations:

  • Mission of Mercy
    2421 Avers Street
    Services: Eye Exams, reading glasses (on-site vouchers for single vision & bifocals while supplies last), Dental Services (Exams, cleanings, and extractions).
  • West Oso Jr. High School
    5202 Bear Lane
    Services: General Medical, Immunization/Vaccines, Diabetes Screening, Behavioral Health, Back-to-School Physicals, women’s Exams, Pharmacy on-site.
  • Calderon Nueces County Center
    710 E Main Ave
    Services: General Medical, Immunization/vaccines, Diabetes Screening, Behavioral Health, Back-to-School Physicals, women’s Exams, Pharmacy on-site.

The healthcare locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., from July 21st to July 26th.

Animal Care Services:

  • July 21-23, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
    West Oso Jr. High – 5202 Bear Lane, Robstown, TX
  • July 24-26, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
    Calderon Nueces County Center – 710 E Main Ave

Available animal services include Microchips, Rabies Vaccine, Distemper, DAPPv (dogs), and HCP (cats).
