NRK series won international Emmy award – NRK Culture and entertainment

* “Atlantic Crossing” was recorded in Norway and the Czech Republic in the period December 2018 to June 2019. It consists of eight episodes, and was broadcast on NRK in October-December 2020.

* Alexander Eik and Linda May Kallestein have written the script for the series, which is also directed by Eik. It is produced by Silje Hopland Eik.

* The series is about the close relationship between Crown Princess Märtha and US President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II.

* Sofia Helin and Tobias Santelmann play Crown Princess Märtha and Crown Prince Olav in the series, respectively. The role of President Roosevelt is played by American Kyle MacLachlan, known from, among other things, the cult series «Twin Peaks».

* The series is a mixture of history and fiction, which has triggered debate here in Norway. Critics, including the widower of Princess Ragnhild Erling Lorentzen (97), believe the creators of the series have taken too great artistic liberties.

* Even before the premiere, Atlantic Crossing was sold to a large number of countries, including Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Russia and Australia. The series has also been sold to the American TV channel PBS Masterpiece. Over 30 countries have secured the rights to show the series.

* Night to Tuesday Norwegian time, the series won an international Emmy in the category best TV movie or miniseries.
