EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic will be launched this autumn
It is thus the case that Mercedes’ press conference is on 15 April, and that the launch in Norway is expected in the autumn of this year and will be available with rear or four-wheel drive.
EQS has a range of up to 770 kilometers (WLTP), while the power ranges from 245 kW to 385 kW. An even more powerful high-performance version of EQS will be introduced at a later date.

All EQS models have an electric motor on the rear axle, while the versions with the 4MATIC four-wheel drive system also have a motor on the front axle. The 4MATIC models also have a Torque Shift function that intelligently and continuously distributes the driving torque between the front and rear axles. In this way, the system ensures that the most efficient engine is used in all cases, and provides a much faster response than with mechanical four-wheel drive. The motors can be regulated independently of each other, and the torque is checked 10,000 times per minute, with the possibility of adjustments, if necessary.
EQS has an intelligent regeneration that can be adjusted in three different steps via the handles behind the wheel. It also works situation optimized with the help of the ECO Assistant. The regeneration power is up to 290 kW under optimal conditions. ”

EQS can be charged with up to 200 kW at fast charging stations, and with up to 22 kW with charging box via the powerful on-board charger. A new range of 300 kilometers (WLTP) can be charged in just 15 minutes under the right conditions. Charging time is streamlined with intelligent thermal control when navigation is activated with Electric Intelligence. The battery can thus be preheated or cooled while driving so that the car reaches the ideal temperature window at a fast charging station, which enables faster charging. Electric Intelligence plans the fastest and most convenient route with charging stops. It is based on several factors such as topography, route, ambient temperature and speed. It also reacts dynamically to traffic jams or changes in driving style. The system also sees the number of charging stations, their charging capacity and payment functions. Thanks to temperature and charging control, high charging power can be maintained for a longer period of time.

Furthermore, it is stated that “the concept is thus optimized to meet all requirements from a future-oriented and battery-electric model family. The upcoming models EQE sedan, EQE SUV and EQS SUV are also based on the new platform. ”
