Now Tesla can do something completely new

Teslas can now analyze the road in real time and automatically adjust the car’s height if holes or other weaknesses are detected on the route.

Update 2022.20 activates smart function

“Adaptive Suspension Damping” is the name of the technology that now Model S and Model X with dynamic height adjustment are now capable of.

The cars collect information about roads, share this with the fleet, and in this way the adjustment is activated automatically.

The “Tesla Adaptive Suspension” will now adjust the driving height in relation to the road quality. The adjustment may occur in different locations, depending on availability, as the vehicle downloads roadmap data generated by Tesla. The instrument cluster will continue to indicate when the suspension is raised for comfort. To enable this feature, touch Controls> Suspension> Adaptive Suspension Damping and select the Comfort or Auto setting.

Improvements have also been made with automatic seat belt adjustment if the car is involved in a frontal collision. Another improvement is that a small sound clip is played when the light is green and you can drive.

Tesla also explains that if you are waiting behind another car, the sound will be played when the car is driving unless “Traffic-Aware Cruise Control” or “Autosteer” is active. When the traffic light and stop sign control are activated, a sound will be played when you can confirm to continue at a green light. To activate, tap Controls> Autopilot> Green traffic light clock.
