Once a week, Dagbladet Meteorological Institute asks if they can name the weather winner for the next few days. When Dagbladet asks the question today, state meteorologist Aslaug Skålevik Valved answers something as rare as:
– Norway!
– All of Norway?
– Yes, the whole country. But you have to take it with a little pinch of salt, she answers.
High pressure
The meteorologist says that a high pressure is already over southern Norway, and that it is building up from there.
– The high pressure is moving north, and will cover larger and larger parts of the country. On Saturday and Sunday, it seems to cover the whole country, she says.
However, as so often, there is some uncertainty associated with the forecasts.
– It may be that Eastern Norway gets a little more clouds than we hope for, and maybe a few drops of precipitation as well. The forecasts there are still a bit uncertain, says Skålevik Valved.
– Also in northern Norway, some precipitation is expected at the beginning of the weekend, which may linger somewhat, she adds.
There is a high pressure over southern Norway now, which is about to move north! It gives rising temperatures all over the country this weekend☀️???? But, even though there is high pressure, it can be a cloudy weather type in some places, maybe especially over Eastern Norway ☁️ pic.twitter.com/NBNSytXCyd
But the big picture is that the high pressure covers the whole country, and we can also have the hottest day of the year in Western Norway this weekend, says Skålevik Valved.
The meteorologists on Twitter also write that the next few days seem to be the warmest we have had in Western Norway so far this year.
This means that it can be up to almost 20 degrees in some places.
– So far this year, Sunndalsøra has been up to 16.8 degrees (Møre og Romsdal), Etne 13.7 degrees (Vestland) & Fister 13.2 degrees (Rogaland), the Meteorologists write.
– In Eastern Norway, including Oslo, it can reach 17-18 degrees. Several places will have over 15 degrees, the state meteorologist says NRK.
– What are we going to use this nice weather for?
– You can find a sun wall, take out sunglasses, get out and clean the garden a bit, or go skiing where there is still snow. Now it’s just a matter of welcoming spring, she says.
Nice start to the week
She adds that large diurnal variations are still expected, and that it can be minus degrees in several places at night. In the mountains, it is still cold, she continues – and at the same time she advises everyone who is going to the mountains to check the avalanche warning.
– Do we get to enjoy this high pressure for a long time?
– It is gradually moving northeast, towards Finland and Russia, but the start of next week also looks nice really, everywhere.
