But he is not angry: «No, I know who I really am. I know that I am a good person. I help people, and I am also working with my foundation for people in need in Africa. »
The scandal video takes around 25 minutes. Hertha professional Salomon Kalou violated the extensive hygiene concept of the German Football League (DFL) several times. The video, which has since been deleted, shows how the striker greets his colleagues in the cloakroom with a handshake and even teammates Jordan Torunarigha during his corona test – although according to guidelines, only two people may be in the room for this action.
Kalou thus ensures a huge gap. And that immediately before today’s expected political decision whether the Bundesliga, based on the hygiene concept, may resume the season with ghost games.
Now the suspended Hertha professional is crabbing back – and in an interview with “Sport 1” says sorry: “I would like to sincerely apologize: It was a big mistake!” It was his first live video, he underestimated the impact on the outside.
He further emphasizes: «It is clear that I did not want to get anyone into trouble with this video. I should just have been more careful. In view of the current situation, that was not a good thing. I would also like to mention that all of us had previously been tested negatively for the corona virus. I wanted to show that we are all well, that everything is fine with us and that we players and employees who have been tested are doing well. That’s what it’s about in these times: being healthy and happy. »
His teammates would have made him understand that they knew “it was not a bad intention.” He is now responsible for the unsightly end after six years at Hertha. But he is not angry: «No, I know who I really am. I know that I am a good person. I help people, and I am also working with my foundation for people in need in Africa. »
