Yesterday, the Chairman of the Riga City Council Mārtiņš Staķis together with the Minister of Culture Nauri Puntulis, the Minister of Education and Science Anita Muižniece and the representatives of the Song and Dance Festival movement visited the Mežaparks Grand Stage, which was put into operation.

Minister of Culture N. Puntulis expressed his joy that “we have obtained this masterpiece of Latvian architecture and construction of the 21st century, which is important for us all and outstanding, which at the same time symbolically represents our nation’s tradition and contemporary architecture with all the latest technological solutions”.

“But to make this place alive again, fully restoring the content, to fill both the stage and the public part in its new, much expanded capacity – it is the task of the whole nation and society. More than ever, the sustainability of the Song Festival has now become dependent on the personal choice and responsibility of each individual, ”the Minister added.
